In the diverse market of grout sealants, distinguishing between polyurea and epoxy variants can be challenging. Feiyang shares insights:

1. Before Application:

Experienced users can differentiate by scent; polyurea has a milder, more distinct fragrance.

Utilizing tools like pH test strips to check the alkalinity of Component A can be informative. Alkaline readings typically indicate polyurea, whereas other readings suggest different materials.

Mixing a known epoxy B component with the B component of the sealant under evaluation can reveal polyurea; a heat-generating, gel-forming reaction is indicative of polyurea.

2. During Application:

Polyurea grout cures faster, often becoming non-sticky within an hour at room temperature, and ready for excess removal in three hours. Epoxy, on the other hand, typically takes over two hours to surface dry and six hours for removal. This difference is more pronounced in low temperatures.

3. After Application:

Upon burning, polyurea produces less black smoke and burns more completely compared to epoxy, which generates significant black smoke due to incomplete combustion.

Flexibility tests, like repeated folding, also serve as an indicator. Even semi-dry flexible epoxy cannot withstand repeated folding, whereas polyurea exhibits superior flexibility, tolerating multiple folds. However, this test is not applicable to colored sand materials.
